So it seems the Oscars forgot to include the amazing talent of Eiko Ishioka in their memoriam section. You could say I’m a little miffed, what with her having actually won an Oscar in 1992 for her work in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
So if the Oscars will so easily forget her, I won’t. I could always spot her costume designs. They were amazing, like a painting come to life. When I heard she had passed, I was heartbroken. Her costumes were what made me really pay attention to every aspect of a movie.

:(
Eiko Ishioka’s my fave. I didn’t feel this sad when McQueen died, honestly. I just learned of it now.
The Fall’s my favorite movie and her costumes always give me an extra reason to watch any film she’s worked on. I was looking forward to so many more movies with costumes done by her.
They’re all so distinctive, strange, fantastic, dark, and beautiful without being deliberately runway or over the top Gaga (yes she is one of Leeroy New’s inspirations anyway).
So very sad to hear of the death of Eiko Ishioka. She was one of my favorite designers and art directors. Her work with Tarsem Singh produced images that are seared into my brain forever for their stunning beauty.

Ishioka created some of the most stunning costumes I’ve ever seen. She will be sorely missed.

What? Oh no… :( Her costumes in The Fall and The Cell were amazing… We’ve lost another great, very different artisan.
